§ 13-8-4. Board to enter into agreement with nonprofit service organizations.

The board shall enter into an agreement to provide hospitalization and surgical benefits, subject to the approval of the city council, with two (2) nonprofit service organizations, presently servicing the members of the city employees' benefit plan, and into an agreement with the carrier presently servicing the employees of the police department who are police officers, to permit the continuation of the hospitalization and surgical coverage for such group; provided, that such police officers shall have the option of becoming members of any plan authorized under this section.
