§ 17-1-1. Opaque fences—Open storage of construction equipment.
(a)
It shall be unlawful to store any construction equipment and supplies including but not limited to steel beams, rolls of steel and similar items, unless located in a closed building or on property entirely enclosed by an opaque fence or an unpierced masonry wall, except gates and doors for ingress or egress of not less than six (6) feet in height nor more than eight (8) feet in height located on the property line. The wall or fence need not be opaque except where the property abuts or is located across a street or alley from residentially zoned property or property zoned for business or property developed with residential building.
(b)
All walls or fences shall be maintained in a neat, substantial and orderly condition and the exterior thereof shall be painted, or be of approved finished material. No equipment or supplies shall be permitted to lean on or touch any such wall or fence, nor permitted to be piled within two (2) feet from the base of the wall or fence, nor in excess of the height of the enclosing wall or fence within ten (10) feet thereof.
(c)
The equipment or supplies located in or on the premises shall be so arranged that reasonable inspection or access to all parts of the premises can be had by the enforcing officials.
(d)
This section shall be enforced by the environmental protection and maintenance department.
